Vietnam Heroes

July 29, 2013 by Beatrice Aguirre Zepeda (Register to contact)

The Institute of Texan Cultures will be opening its exhibit of the traveling Texas Vietnam Heroes Dog Tags on Saturday, August 3, 2013. This is a duplicate of the dog tags that will be sealed in the base of the Vietnam Monument which will be on the grounds of the Capitol building in Austin. You can actually go up to the dog tags and touch the one for your loved one and friends. The dog tags for the 26 former Lanier students who died in Vietnam are in the group. I touched the tags for some of these young men in Austin. The display will be at the Institute of Texan Cultures for approximately one month before it moves on to other cities in the state.
